The secret of happiness

Do you want to be happier and healthier? Would you like to reduce your level of stress and anxiety? Do you wish to know how to protect your body against cancer, diabetes or dementia? If your answer is yes and you want to be happy and healthy, you should keep reading.

No, this is not about magic pills or anti-disease miracle elixir. It is about something we can all have. But for many of us it can be harder than finding our soul mate on Tinder. The secret of your happiness and wellbeing is a good night sleep. Do you know why? The reason is simple, more you sleep, the more you will live.

A recent study by National Centre for Social Research found out that “Better sleep is the biggest single contributor to better living… Over 60 per cent of the group living well felt well rested most or all of the time after sleep but less than 5 per cent of the group struggling felt this way.”

However, not everyone is having the luxury of a good night sleep. According to the NHS, one in every three people in the UK suffers from insomnia. We all probably know by now that lack of sleep causes mental and physical health issues. Moreover, Matthew Walker, a sleep scientist has revealed that sleep deprivation is linked to cancer diseases: “after just one night of only four or five hours’ sleep, your natural killer cells – the ones that attack the cancer cells that appear in your body every day – drop by 70%”. His suggestion is to sleep for 8-hours every night and to “wake up at the same time every day, no matter what.” (The Guardian/24/09/2017)

So how do we achieve a good night 8-hour sleep without taking any sleeping pills? Obviously, there are many natural ways how to fall asleep. Some people just have a “nice cuppa” of tea, others do not watch horror movies or don’t check their emails before bedtime. Although, if you have tried camomile tea, put away your mobile phone, read your favourite bedtime story and counted millions of sheep and you are still awake, then you might as well try the art of essence.

The power of scents is enormous. One smell can send us back to the past, trigger emotions and “impact our bodies through our nervous system.” (Wei, M. 29/04/2017) It is no surprise that using essential oils help people to improve their daily lives in many ways. Most importantly, they support healthy sleep. The popular essential oils such as lavender, lemon, and rosemary etc. are commonly used in aromatherapy. For instance, lavender oil “causes significant decreases in blood pressure, heart rate, and skin temperature, which indicates a decrease of autonomic nervous system arousal associated with relaxation.” (University Health News, 11/07/2017)

Therefore, if you wish to sleep like a baby, PASX got something for you! Teaming up with Nutri Genius, PASX have developed calming sleep tissues and organic pillow sprays.
